Royal Melbourne Hospital VCCC – North Facility
Completed June 2014Client: GroconThe LTC Contractors team carried out detailed demolition and civil works at the Royal Melbourne Hospital’s Victorian Comprehensive Care Centre $1.1-billion North Facility redevelopment. The project involved large suspended slab demolition staged for placement of structural piles from street level to the ground on B3.
Working in a fully operational hospital and sterile environment posed plenty of challenges that our expert civil contractors rose to. We maintained water-tight working areas while carrying out detailed demolition works in an existing live plant room.
The project also involved having to back prop a suspended slab to support a 50-tonne piling rig.
LTC Contractors successfully completed the project whilst working around the hospital’s schedule. Medical operations continued as per normal in the mornings and afternoons, while demolitions took place in the middle part of each day.
